Vicky’s interest in art began at an early age. She especially liked to draw superheroes, ants, and her math teacher.

Vicky is a diverse, multicultural author-illustrator. Her mother emigrated from Chengdu in mainland China, and her grandma on her father’s side came from Russia.

After graduating from college, she taught English in Beijing. Back in the States, she has worked in writing, editing, and teaching, and was a magazine copyeditor for over 10 years. She was also as a hand model for print and TV (check out the Nix lice shampoo late-night ad). Yes, she has seen that Seinfeld episode.

She holds a masters in art education and enjoys doing school visits using art and writing.

She has taken illustration courses at Cooper Union, School of Visual Arts, and the Art Students League. She’s active in the children’s book community, as a member and officer of CBIG (Children’s Book Illustrators Group) and SCBWI. She started an online writing critique group called Advanced Picture Book Critiques.

Vicky’s picture books include Ralphie and the Swamp Baby and The Three Swingin’ Pigs. Her illustrations have decorated magazines, activity books, and signage. Please visit her profile in Children’s Writers and Illustrators Market.

She believes the chicken crossed the road to escape the paparazzi.
