Reposting this. Always great to see international children’s books.

Award-winning Irish children’s book authors in all-day festival of children’s literature at the Irish Arts Center on Sunday, October 4, 11am until 4PM. Great Sunday activity for kids and parents.

Highlight: At 3 pm, Louise O’Neill reads from her acclaimed YA book Only Ever Yours, which will be adapted for film with the production company Killer Content. After her reading, Louise will be joined in conversation with Hunger Games actress and activist Jacqueline “Jackie” Emerson to discuss her book and the issues surrounding women and body image.

In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Children’s Books Ireland Book of the Year Award,Irish Arts Center introduces its first-ever festival celebrating Irish children’s literature!

The very best Irish children’s writers recognized at the leading book awards in Ireland—CBI Book of the Year Awards—join us at our inaugural Rí Rá Festival of Children’s Literature. Bringing children and families together to creatively engage with literature, the festival encourages readers tall and small to discover new books at our readings, talk with those who create them, and share their love for reading. Stay all day, or pop in to play at one of our many free events for kids, teens, and adults.
Rí Rá, Irish Gaelic for “ruckus” or “mayhem,” is the perfect word to describe this one-day extravaganza of Irish children’s literature.
Authors include Áine Ní Ghlinn, Oliver Jeffers, Chris Haughton, Louise O’Neill, Gabriel Rosenstock, and Eoin Colfer (Children’s Laureate of Ireland).

Master Storytellers Exhibit EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 27 due to popular demand.

CBIG members join more children’s book illustrators in a return to Poe Park Visitor Center for the MASTER STORYTELLERS exhibit, on view April 1 – May 30, 2015  EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 27
Illustrations inspired by the classic tales of the brothers Grimm, Aesop, Kenneth Grahame, Joseph Jacobs, Shakespeare and more master storytellers. Also curated by the amazing Donna Miskend.
The Poe Park Visitors Center is well worth the trip, as the actual cottage Poe and Mrs. Poe lived in is there! It was moved from its original location a few blocks away. It has been recreated, and you can take a tour. The center is next door to it. It’s all very near the subway.
